Anna Martens(*1996) works as a dancer and choreographer in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

She first experienced the power of movement in community art projects in her hometown, where she also started her career as an artist and musician in the circus Ubuntu.

Anna Martens started (2016) studying Dance in Education at ArtEZ University in the Netherlands.

For her graduation as a certified, professional dancer (2019) at the Iwanson International school of contemporary dance, she was awarded the <<bad lemons award>>.

During her studies Anna Martens was a dancer in the <<Wamma Dance Company>>, with whom she danced at the Tanztage Ingolstadt, in various theatres in Munich as well as in France.

Anna Marten's interest in interdisciplinary movement work became apparent in her first own choreographies.

With the support of the Department of Culture Munich, she created the choreography <<meine moms sagen immer..>> for International Women's Day (08.03.20, Ampere Munich) in collective work with Alina Groder.

A work in which movement can take on a foreign perspective through objects and sound. After this success, the piece was performed several  times in Germany and Austria.

2020/21 she worked as a dancer and choreographer with the oboist and singer Miriam Hanika for the album <<LOUISE>> as well as the <<Friedenskonzert>>in Lauterbach (09/21).

In 2021 Anna Marten's new production <<Die Insel der ungeliebten Spielsachen>> premiered in Switzerland (19/11/21, Theater am Gleis Winterthur) with the support of the Bavarian scholarship programme (Neue Kunst und junge Wege). 

In order to provide artistic exchange, Anna Martens wrote texts for

TanzQuelle, a Munich initiative that creates synergies for the local dance scene.

The young artist is currently working at  Festspielhaus Neuschwanstein as a dancer and dance captain in various productions of the house.

In <<Beauty and the Beast>> she embodies the role of the piano and has co-choreographed the production.

In 2022 she danced  in  <<Der Ring>>,<<Zeppelin>>,<<Die Päpstin>> (deutsches Theater Munich) and in <<Ludwig 2>> she danced the swan.

Anna Martens choreographed the new project <<Hundertwasser>>, which premiered on October 29, 2022 at Festspielhaus Neuschwanstein and will return in july 2024.  In this project, she was also allowed to act in the role of <<Kunterbunt>>.

In february 2023 she choreographed and danced the european premiere of the opera <<The Village>> by Joel Mandelbaum and Susan Fox (17/02/2023).

Anna Martens performed in june 2023 for Thomas Darchinger's theater company Formation D451, in the world ending comedy <<MyDayYourTag>> (03/06/2023).

In may 2023 she was co-choreographer for <<Summer of Love>> by Ralph Siegel and in august 2023 choreographer for <<Dream King>> by Janet Chvatal at the Festspielhaus Neuschwanstein.

Currently Anna Martens is choreographing together with Alina Groder the contemporary dance production <<Die neuen 4 Jahreszeiten, neu verTANZt>>, which will premiere on 27/10/2023.
