LOUISE

This video is the result of an interdisciplinary collaboration with oboist and singer Miriam Hanika.
The work speaks of fragility and humanity, about how women in particular can support one another.
Louise was a very progressive woman for her time, lived through the Second World War, fought with soldiers, argued with politicians, was run over by a horse-drawn carriage and remained single for a long time because "the right one" was not allowed to marry her.
Every single drastic event left bruises and scars, but Louise was tough and strong. She inspired a whole subsequent generation in her family to speak up and come together.

<<Visually, the ballet interlude is captivating, reminiscent of Marketa Irglova's "This right here". The ugly factory site could stand for our often unappealing superficial reality, the dance for the beauty that can nevertheless unfold in the midst of it>>.
